About kennel Combine

At kennel Combine golden retrievers have always been a part of our daily life. We are located in the countryside near Eskilstuna where Lena and Nisse live – and in Stockholm where you can find Jenny and Linda. We like to work with our dogs and we take part in both retriever tests and shows.

Our belief

Most of our dogs have won awards, both at shows and retriever tests. It is our belief that the best way to keep the character of the breed is by ensuring that the dogs can do what they were once bred to do – retrieve game at shoots.

Temperament we aim for

We want easy going and happy dogs, with will to please and easy to train. They should also be able to rest and keep calm when asked to do so and enjoy meeting new people and new dogs.

A puppy from us?

Sometimes we have puppies, normally when we want to keep one. Then we look for suitable homes for the siblings. Whether you want to compete is of no importance to us. What matters is that you are prepared that your new friend will need a lot of attention and training to be happy.

“I have had goldens since I was a teenager and for over 50 years I have been competing at shows and retriever tests. A dog I will always remember is Davy, C.I.B. SE UCh NO UCh FI UCh LV Ch Combine Steward of the Line. He was one in a million and my constant companion for over 12 years. You can find him in the pedigrees of most of our dogs today”

“When I was 14 years old my interest in dogs took off with "Nell", SE VCh Combine Elle, but the dog who really got me hooked was Billy, SE UCh Combine Hennessy. I qualified him in the field for his full title and showed him to Best Veteran Dog at the Centennial Show in England in 2013. When I moved from home, Nell and Billy came with me and so life has continued – always with at least two goldens”

“Dogs have always been a part of my life, but it was Toddy, C.I.E. NORDUCh LV Ch Combine Quite A Boy, that really got me started. He fulfilled all my dreams, including being awarded 3rd in Open Dog at the Centennial show in England in 2013. Today, I share everyday life with my two golden girls and we enjoy both working and showing”

The history of Combine

Caliph of yeo.jpg
A shared ideal

Lena got to know Märta Ericson and Ulla-Britt Karlmann in the 1970ths. All of them had goldens from Ylva Braunerhjelm, kennel Sandemar. They became friends and shared the same view of what to aim for in the ideal golden retriever. The first two litters were born in 1973, both sired by their favorite dog, NO UCh Caliph of Yeo.

Combine prefix

The Combine prefix was registered by Märta and Ulla-Britt and for 20 years they kept the bitches and bred the litters. At this time, Lena only had males, but from 1992 the litters have been bred by her. Jenny and Linda grew up with the dogs and joined the kennel in 2025.

The Hamilton award

The ambition throughout the years has been to breed sound dogs that both can do a days work and gain awards in the showring. In 2018, the kennel received the Hamilton Plaque, the highest award a dog breeder can achieve from The Kennel Club in Sweden.
